No 10 with Miho – April – Stefan’s inventions

Posted in No 10 with Miho by Type Tasting on April 12, 2010

1. A man jumps on a trampoline and generates enough energy to power a small remote controlled helicopter. If he bounces hard enough the helicopter flies towards him and delivers a slice of cake.

2. A man runs in the park, his trainers collecting the energy created by the impact on the ground. As he runs past a particular tree the energy generated powers it to follow behind him. When he runs fast enough both he and the tree outrun the owl trying to return to its nest in the trunk.

No 10 with Miho – Spin saves the planet

Posted in No 10 with Miho by Type Tasting on March 29, 2010

It has occured to me when I’m doing a spin class (or using any equipment in the gym) that there is an absurdity to exercising without actually getting anywhere. Could this be counteracted by harnessing the energy and using it for something. Could gyms be the solution to saving the planet? Would pedal-powered TVs make fat kids fitter? Could a gym carriage light a train (like the rowers in a Roman galley)? Could this be how we give to charity – my gym bike collects energy and the profit from selling it builds wells in Africa? My Nike trainers store energy that pays to educate small children in Indonesia? Or could it entertain – if I spin my way to 5k could a clown pop up out of a manhole cover in the street outside and go “boo!”? When I get to 10k a neon-rainbow is illuminated near my home and Judy Garland sings?

No 10 with Miho – February – India

Posted in No 10 with Miho by Type Tasting on February 18, 2010

Miho celebrates 10 years in the UK in October 2010 and in the build up to this is embarking on monthly projects on the theme of number ‘10′. In February she went on a trip to India, somewhere I’ve been a couple of times on long trips 10-15 years ago. For me they were amazing, life-changing adventures where I met and travelled with wonderful people. My response to February is therefore “10 things I remember of India” in no particular order other than the first 10 things I thought of.

Miho celebrates 10 years in the UK in October 2010 and in the build up to this is embarking on monthly projects on the theme of number ’10’.

For January we spent a day on the number 10 bus from Kings Cross to Hammersmith (and back).
